Our Mission

Aoife Griffin is a passionate advocate for Irish culture, hailing from Co. Roscommon, Ireland. With a first-class honors B.A in Irish Music and Dance from the Irish World Academy, University of Limerick, she has spent her life immersed in the world of traditional Irish music. In 2021, Aoife's journey led her to Boston, Massachusetts, where she assumed the role of Cultural and Marketing Manager at the renowned Irish Cultural Centre. 

Aoife's expertise, combined with her genuine love for Irish traditions, makes her an invaluable figure in promoting cultural awareness and enriching the lives of those around her. Her vision is to continue to grow the Boston Irish community, forging lasting connections across borders.

John joined the board of the Irish Network Boston in July 2024. Originally from Co. Limerick, he has been living in the Boston Area since 2021. After graduating from the University of Limerick, John moved over to Boston and has spent the past 4 years becoming more and more involved in the Irish communities throughout the Greater Boston area. When not skiing or singing and playing guitar, John is a security consultant in Boston. He and his team work alongside a wide spectrum of industrial, commercial and public entities with improving and increasing every aspect of their physical security. John’s passion for the Irish and Irish-American Community in Boston make him a great addition to the Irish Network Boston to continue to engage, promote, and support the Irish community throughout Boston.

Darren McGurran joined the board of the Irish Network Boston in June of 2022. Darren is a 30 year software industry veteran in the general Boston area.  He has worked at Tableau/Salesforce for the past 9 years as a data architect. Darren has experience with enterprise software, data visualisation software and general IT infrastructure. He was a member of the board at St. Brendan’s Minor GAA club for 5 years and a member of the Boston Minor GAA board for 3 years. Darren grew up in Ballisodare, Co. Sligo where his family still resides. In 1991, he graduated with BComm from UCD.  He has lived in the Boston area since 1996, progressing south from Somerville to Weymouth via Southie. He has lived in in Weymouth for over 10 years with his family. In the past, he has volunteered on boards and cycled from Boston to Providence in the PanMass and MS Bike rides..

Greg Shanahan, a lifelong resident of Weymouth, MA, is a dedicated public servant committed to his community and Irish heritage.

He holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.P.A. from UMASS Boston, where he authored a capstone on government performance management. He has also earned graduate certificates in Government Performance Management and Human Resource Management and is currently pursuing an MBA at UMASS Amherst.

Shanahan has held key roles in Massachusetts state and county government, focusing on administration, public performance, and innovation. A longtime Weymouth Town Councilor, he has chaired multiple committees, including Budget Management and Economic Development.

Emily joined the Board of Irish Network Boston in February 2026. Originally from Cork, she moved to Boston to study at Northeastern University (NEU) through the dual degree program offered in partnership with Dublin City University (DCU). In 2023, Emily graduated with a Bachelor of Science in International Business from NEU and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Global Business from DCU.
Following graduation, Emily joined Enterprise Ireland’s Boston office as a Trade Development Executive on the U.S. Lifesciences team. In this role, she supports innovative Irish companies as they scale and expand in the U.S. market. She is passionate about showcasing Ireland’s Lifesciences ecosystem and strengthening its presence on the global stage.
Eager to further develop her professional network, Emily began attending Irish Network Boston events, where she quickly found a welcoming and supportive community. Inspired by her own experience, she is committed to helping others build meaningful connections and grow within the Irish Network Boston network.

Beth Greabe Antony, M.A. is an Independent Educational Consultant and the founder of CAC Consulting, based in Brookline, Massachusetts. She provides individualized, student-centered guidance across secondary education, the college discernment and application process, and post-graduate transitions.

A dedicated advocate for access, inclusion, and equity in higher education, Beth’s work is distinguished by her deep commitment to students with visible and invisible disabilities, learning differences, and complex life circumstances. One-third of her practice is devoted to pro-bono work supporting first-generation students and those navigating systemic, financial, or health-related challenges. She is also widely recognized for her health advocacy on behalf of students living with food allergies and asthma, collaborating with national organizations to improve safety, awareness, and institutional responsiveness.

Beth holds a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology and Applied Human Development from the Boston College Lynch School and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of the Holy Cross. She has completed post-graduate studies in Applied Development, Educational Psychology, and Leadership/Creating Public Value through Harvard University’s Extension School. Her leadership within higher education spans alumni relations, advancement, and admissions, and she was instrumental in launching the Alumni Mentorship and Career Center program at Holy Cross.

She currently serves as a Senator for the Holy Cross Alumni Association, is a member of the Council for Women at Boston College, and is active in both the Harvard Club of Boston and the College Club of Boston. Beth is a newly appointed board member of the Irish Network of Boston and has served as a judge for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum’s “Profiles in Courage” Essay Contest since 2021.

Beth is a professional member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, the American Counseling Association, the American College Counseling Association, and NASPA. She has been repeatedly nominated for the NACAC Inclusion, Access, and Success Award (2020–2025) in recognition of her sustained impact on first-generation, underrepresented, and disabled student communities.

In November 2025, Beth received Irish citizenship through the Foreign Births Register. With family roots in Ballina, Westport, and Kilmeena, County Mayo, she is deeply engaged in celebrating her Irish heritage and strengthening connections within the Irish diaspora.

Kevin Coveney, CPA, has a long history of supporting Irish cultural and political causes, going back to the 1990s and the Irish Immigration Reform Movement. Mr. Coveney is a former audit partner.  He is currently the CFO of a publicly traded biotech company.   He has been the CFO of public and private biotech companies for 10 plus years. Mr.  Coveney earned his BS in management from the University of Massachusetts and was a non-commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard.

Liam joined the Board of Irish Network Boston in February 2026. He grew up on the South Shore of Massachusetts, spending most of his childhood in Scituate, MA, and is the oldest of six siblings. Liam graduated from Providence College in 2021, where he built a strong foundation in leadership, teamwork, and relationship-building.

Following graduation, Liam began his career in sales, eventually joining Fidelity, before relocating to South Boston, where he currently resides. He later transitioned to Commonwealth Financial Group, where he works closely with clients to create highly personalized, holistic financial plans tailored to their individual goals and circumstances.

An American of Irish descent, Liam was raised with a deep appreciation for his Irish heritage. During high school, he had the opportunity to travel throughout Ireland playing soccer in towns across the country—an experience that solidified his admiration for Ireland and its people. Influenced by his parents and grandparents, Liam continues to honor his Irish roots into adulthood.

Guided by the belief that “the essence of life is in relationships,” Liam felt an immediate sense of warmth and community upon attending his first Irish Network Boston event at the UMass Club in December. Inspired by that experience, he is eager to deepen his involvement with the organization and help connect good people with good people.

Thomas Bartley joined the Board of Directors of the Irish Network Boston in January 2025. A Massachusetts native, he currently resides in Dorchester.With a B.A. in English from UMASS and an MBA focused on innovation and entrepreneurship from Bay Path University, Tom has over 20 years’ experience in business development and sales across various industries. He is currently the Commercial Manager for Algenesis Labs. Deeply connected to his Irish heritage, Tom has ancestral roots in Roscommon and Inishkea and has been visiting Ireland for more than 20 years. He is also active in the local community, serving on the Young Professionals Board for the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester.An avid runner and snowboarder, Tom has completed five marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2023. He is passionate about traveling and cooking, always looking for new places to explore and new recipes to try.
